A few weeks ago, I published another article on freedom. This time, I want to try to elaborate a bit more on this subject.
Over the centuries, there was a cry for freedom because they want to be free. Unknown amounts of people died for this concept, they have fought for freedom, and they would give up their own lives for freedom. But what is freedom? You cannot take it and cook it in a pot.
You cannot eat freedom, you cannot breathe freedom. I think that freedom, or being free, is a concept, an ideal. Because what does it mean to be free? If you say: "I am free." Then you must have been a slave if you have been set free.
So, what were you set free from? This is so diverse that it differs from person to person. So, each person must decide for themselves at what stage were they slaves? And when and how did they gain their freedom? And if you were a slave, you must have had a slave master. Who or what was your slave master?
Now, in order for you to gain your freedom, you need to know who or what is your slave master. Lots of men would jokingly say his wife. Or his boss because he has to spend so much time at work, and your boss is a real slave driver.
I do not think that is perfectly correct. Think about this for a moment. You have to pay the rent and pay the bills, so off to work you go to earn your meager salary. Your boss only gets as much as possible from you for as little as possible because he knows, at the end of the month, you need your money to pay your debt.
So, you are not free, your time is not your own. For an example, if you are free, you can go wherever you want, whenever you want, how you want. You time is yours to spend as you want to spend it. If you cannot do that, then you are a slave.
So, how would you emancipate yourself from your slavery? You must decide for yourself what makes you a slave. In the old times, slaves were owned. They did not have any possessions, their time was not their own, they had to ask for permission for everything.
Does that not sound a bit familiar? To get to that stage of realization, you need to realise what makes you into a slave. But be honest with yourself. Why do you have to go to work in the corporate system? Because you have bills to pay, rent to pay, instalments on your luxury car to pay.
So, to be able to emancipate yourself fully, get rid of your debt. And stay out of it. Because then, you will not have to work, you do not have that debt to pay every month. It is a good thing for people to keep busy and have a job, but do not fall into that trap of making debt.
If you can, get out of debt, because then you will truly be free. Your money is your own.
