At What Point Do Excuses Become Extinct?

What causes this avoidance?

I've always been told that the ONE common denominator in this scenario is FEAROn so many occasions, I hear aspiring entrepreneurs and small business owners who stand in their own way. They look for the perfect opportunity to invest expanding their current business.

They look for the perfect time to start their own business. Is there ever a perfect time in life for anything that involves taking risks? I remember being afraid to FLY and being offered a position as a district manager covering 5 states and 13 locations.

I accepted the position but knew that at some point I would have to fly. Our 4th quarter meetings were held at Snow Bird Ski Resort near Salt Lake City, UT and the only way in from VA for me was a 5 hour flight. There will come a point in our lives that we're forced to do something that we're afraid of. Our blessings and breakthroughs are standing on the opposite side of the box that holds our comfort zone.

What does FEAR stem from?

When I think about fear I think about friends who want badly to do things but just can't find the inner push in them to get it done. Sometimes we struggle from self-confidence and sometime it just a matter of having someone there to push you.

"Courage is resistance to fear, mastery of fear, not absence of fear. - Mark Twain"

There are several underlying factors that may contribute to fear amongst aspiring business owners. I talk to a few business owners recently who are looking to step out on faith and leave their full-time job.

I agree that just walking away without a firm foundation in your business would require a huge STEP. So my question to them is "how are you planning on leaving your job to pursue your passion?" Of course the number one answer is "I have to WAIT until business picks up!"

I suggest to part-time entrepreneurs looking step out to FT:

1. Began to create a strategic exit plan immediately.

2. Create a goal that consists of a salary you need to make the process comfortable to walk away from a JOB.

3. Save funds that a specifically designated a case of an emergency.

Put the latter steps on a napkin at your desk to make sure that you are working daily on your exit plan. I believe that you have what it takes for successful entrepreneur but you have to actually believe in yourself first.
