The amazing thing about every New Year is that at the beginning, a lot of people have big goals and exciting plans of what they intend to achieve in the Year. The reality is that if you don't take a look at the previous year with the intention to correct the mistakes made, you are likely to repeat them.
In this article, I will be addressing some traits that may have limited you this year. If they are not addressed before you step into the New Year, they are likely to affect your goals and plans. I would advise you to pay very close attention as you read through.
The traits you must drop before advancing to the New Year include:
Impatience
Great achievements require time. Sometimes we get too overwhelmed when we set goals and we fail to realize that no matter how hard you try, there is a specific time for everything. You will achieve everything you have planned to achieve if you have the patience and if you are persistent in your pursuit.
As you set goals for the New Year, you need to be reasonable with your projections. Be realistic with your goals, set realistic deadlines to avoid frustration. Learn to be still when you experience delays and do not let anxiety take hold of you.
Self-doubt
Nothing can sabotage your dreams except you give it the power to. There are many people who would have achieved great things in life except that they did not believe in themselves, they did not believe they were capable enough to achieve much.
What is the use of setting great goals for the New Year if you do not believe in your ability to achieve them? I want to encourage you to have a change of mindset before you step into the New Year. Develop confidence in yourself, believe that your have what it takes to achieve your goals and you will achieve them.
Inflexibility
While it is good to stay focused on your goals, it is also wise to be flexible with your approach. There are several ways to solve every challenge that you may be facing, ensure that you keep an open mind.
As you step into the New Year, be ready to embrace change, get ready to do things in a way that you are not used to. Stretch you mind and move away from your comfort zone.
Ignorance
One thing that may have hindered you from achieving your goals in 2014 could be your ignorance. In whatever field you are, there are a lot of things that you must know to become very successful. How much of your time and money do you invest in acquiring the knowledge you need? When last did you read a book about an issue that disturbed you?
In the New Year, you have to ensure you invest enough resources in enhancing your knowledge. I would advise you have a reading plan for the New Year.
Wastefulness
This is expressed in one's inability to make the best use of available resources. Before you start working hard and wishing for more, have you been able to fully utilize the resources that you already have? Before you complain of not having enough time, do you fully utilize every minute of your day?
For the New Year, you should have a good plan on how you intend to make good use of all the resources at your disposal. Your time should be well spent daily, before you look for more ensure that you have fully utilized what you already have.
